Hi Robert
This request is to make the 'Add User' screen behave a little more like the core version in two areas. The first one is fairly easy to explain:
Can you make the Role Assignment check boxes reflect the auto-assigment settings that have been made in the core role manager for the site.
That means that a default DNN install would have the "Registered Users" and the "Subscribers" boxes already checked when adding a new user. it also means that any other auto-assigned roles should also be pre-selected when adding a new user.
As it is now, the person adding new users has to keep a list of auto-assigned roles somewhere handy and remember to check it each time and ensure that the correct roles are selected. This of course leads to users not being assigned roles that should be auto-assigned.
The second suggestion is less obvious and you have to make a User Settings change to see how the core works and why the module should do the same thing.
Among other things, the Add User section in the module displays fields for:
First Name Last Name Display Name
By default, the core registration and add user page also display the same fields.
Now the core registration and add user pages will no longer show the Display Name field, but the User Manager still does.
The suggestion is to make the User Manager follow the core and respect that setting.
Hope that all made sense
Regards, Rob
Hi Rob,
Thanks for taking time to document the problems and resolutions. I'll work on it.
Regards,
Robert.
New release WorkControl-UserManager version 08.02.02 contains your request for enhancements. You can get it from the download page. Thanks for the continous feedbacks.
That looks great thanks heaps for sorting that out as always!
Rob
Hi Robert,
I understand the value of the above feature request, however it is causing me a big problem. I've been using the module for over two years, and now I cannot delete users from auto assigned roles with the module. Everyone probably uses the module in slightly different scenarios, so this is to ask you to modify this behavior as an option setting for an instance of the module.
e.g., Option: Allow user to be deleted from auto assigned roles?
Note: Just as robax pointed out the compatibility with the built-in DNN user management, this too is a compatibility issue. I can delete users from auto assigned roles with the built-in user manager. I use a specific auto-assigned role for a very specific, short term purpose, and I need the delete ability.
Thank you for your consideration.
