4.09.01 - about hiding roles and users

Hmm.. I'm a little unsure about something now.

I think the original module allowed roles to be excluded from being managed by the module. But it always showed all users.

In the new version, an excluded role also hides any users who belong to the role.

This means that roles can't be hidden without also removing the users. Is that what is happening?

I thought that putting a role in the included section would then force those users who also have excluded roles, to be visible again.

I'll go and read the blog post again and see if I've missed something about how it works.

Rob

Re: 4.09.01 - about hiding roles and users

Rob,

The Excluded setting has higher priority then the Included setting.  Thus users in Excluded role will not be visible for edit.

Robert.

Re: 4.09.01 - about hiding roles and users

Hi Robert, Ok I see.

I was a bit confused during the test period but now I have it running on my live portal I can see more clearly what is happening.

It has gained the desired ability to exclude users of a specified role, but it has lost the ability to exclude a role without excluding the users in that role. I had assumed that the Include button was going to force the display of users in excluded roles, but it doesn't seem to. That's why I didn't pick this up earlier.

I don't want to create any work for you as you've already done so much work on this, but I want to put this up as a possibility.

This would provide both the old and new functions:

  1. Exclude Role
  2. Exclude Users in Role

Am I making any sense here?

Regards,
Rob
